Get a toll-free number in four simple steps

It only takes four steps to get started with OpenPhone’s toll-free numbers.

What is a business toll-free number?

A business toll-free number is a telephone number that lets people reach your business without paying long-distance fees. Toll-free numbers start with 800, 844, 855, 866, 888, and other toll-free prefixes. Instead of charging your callers, a toll-free number will bill your company for all expenses due. With OpenPhone, you don't pay for inbound calls, and any outbound calls to the US and Canada come free with your plan.

Callers in countries that follow the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) can call a toll-free number without paying long-distance charges. That includes the USA, Canada, and 18 other countries and regions like Jamaica, the British Virgin Islands, and the Caribbean.

Why thousands of growing teams use OpenPhone

Here are a few key reasons thousands of professionals vote OpenPhone as the #1 rated phone solution on G2.

3 more benefits of using a toll-free number with OpenPhone

1. Avoid paying extra for inbound calls

Many other business phone providers cap the number of inbound call minutes included with their plans or make you pay per minute even on incoming calls for a toll-free number.

OpenPhone provides a more cost-effective option where you don’t have to pay for inbound calls.

Plus, OpenPhone includes free outbound calls to the US and Canada with every plan.

2. Call and message from anywhere

OpenPhone can travel with you wherever you go. All you need is WiFi. Call and text from the same number using any computer or cellphone.

3. Stand out with vanity numbers

Want to attract a customer’s attention? OpenPhone gives you many vanity phone number options so you can create a memorable number like 1-800-FLOWERS.

“The shared communications history in OpenPhone is just so valuable. Everything we do…all of that is a shared history so that any one person can step in immediately and take over a function, a task, or a relationship and understand what’s happened in that relationship and be able to pick it up without causing any hiccups”

down arrow

International calling and texting on OpenPhone works similarly to a regular cell phone. Dial your intended number’s country code, followed by the phone number. There are a few things to keep in mind with international calls and texts on OpenPhone:

  • Calls and texts to Canadian and US numbers are free and included in your plan
  • You don’t need to dial a country code for NANP countries since they use the same country code as the US and Canada
  • For countries outside the US and Canada, you’ll be charged for international calls. You can purchase calling credits in advance or set up automatic payments for your international calls. Check out this support article on how you can enable international calling and messaging.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) manages North American toll-free numbers and which prefixes can be used for toll-free business communications. They’re available on a first-come first-served basis and are managed by entities known as Responsible Organizations (RespOrgs). OpenPhone is an FCC-approved toll-free number provider.
