Vonage is split between consumers and companies with no clear focus for either group. OpenPhone is a collaborative business phone designed for small and growing businesses.
Hundreds of customers shared with us why they moved from Vonage to OpenPhone. Here are a few answers.
"Vonage packed a lot of unnecessary features that most of the time didn’t work. I missed a lot of calls that didn’t come through to my phone. For all the aggravation, Vonage was not worth its hefty price tag — not to mention finding hidden fees on every billing cycle. OpenPhone is so easy to use! I haven’t looked back since."

"After many years with Vonage, I was happy to finally find a modern solution for my business phone needs. OpenPhone's user interface, the ease of setting a new number up, and porting the numbers from other providers made the experience seamless. OpenPhone continues to be a super reliable system. Also, their pricing is extremely affordable for any small business or sole proprietor. Highly recommended!"

Affordable pricing for toll-free numbers
OpenPhone offers both local and toll-free numbers to teams on every plan. Each team member gets their own number and you can get additional numbers for $5 per month.
Vonage doesn’t offer toll-free numbers in their plans. You have to purchase an add-on that costs $39.99 a month to get a toll-free number with them.
Affordable pricing for more local numbers
Need to add more numbers to your account? OpenPhone makes it easy — each additional number costs $5 per month.
Vonage offers additional local numbers at twice the price — $9.99 per month.
On-demand call recording at no extra charge
OpenPhone offers on-demand call recording in your base plan so you can record the calls that matter to your team.
For Vonage, you either have to purchase their Call Recording On Demand add-on for $4.99 a month or you can upgrade to their most expensive pricing tier. Both options mean you pay extra for recording calls.
Record calls automatically when you upgrade
OpenPhone offers automatic call recording and AI call summaries and transcripts in our Business plan. You don’t have storage limits for your call recordings.
Vonage only offers automatic call recording as a $49.99 per month add-on, and it caps recording storage at 500 hours. Additional storage is available for $19.99 in 250 hour increments.
