Dialpad is designed for large contact centers. OpenPhone is a collaborative business phone that helps you nurture customer relationships.
Hundreds of teams have moved from Dialpad to OpenPhone. Here are a few reasons why:
"We have tried a handful of other phone systems and had issues with all of them. Unfortunately, they are built for hundreds of people in a call center, not two people in different offices. This makes it so the most basic tasks are over-engineered, causing us more headaches. OpenPhone has simplified our workflow since switching from Dialpad and MightyCall."
Brandon Neff
Lead Technician @ Quality Exterminators
"Compared to Dialpad, it's so much easier to manage our calls, messages and team with their user-friendly interface. Our CSM was incredible and made onboarding and launching seamless - we're thrilled with the switch and highly recommend OpenPhone to anyone looking for a modern, scalable communication solution!"
Brock Dusome
Senior Engineering Manager @ Bungalow
"We switched our entire account executive and customer service teams to OpenPhone due to the seamless integration with HubSpot, and the experience of text messaging and internal communication."

Use shared numbers
Teammates can call and text from the same number at the same time. Manage a team? You can easily see who said what and coach as needed.
Collaborate in threads
Assign tasks or get input on an external conversation with internal threads visible only to your team. Dialpad doesn’t have internal threads, which forces teams to collaborate in other tools instead.
Share additional context with contact notes
Enrich your address book with custom contact information. Save information like birthdays, vacation dates, or hobbies, so that you can personalize support and sales conversations.
No texting limits
Dialpad offers 250 outbound texts per user per month in the US, after which it charges for every message sent.
OpenPhone offers free texting to US and Canadian customers in every plan, so you can message your customers as much as you want without worrying about additional fees.
No scheduled texts or text templates
Want to schedule texts or create text templates to help your team work more efficiently? Dialpad doesn’t let you do either of those options.
OpenPhone lets your team have more text conversations faster — schedule messages based on customer timezones and create text templates with snippets to answer the most common customer questions.
Auto-replies for all customers
Text auto-replies help you engage with customers when you’re unable to take their call or immediately respond to a message.
Dialpad only lets you set auto-replies outside working hours or when you’re in Do Not Disturb mode. OpenPhone enables you to set auto-replies for missed calls, incoming messages after business hours, new voicemails, and more.
Access multiple numbers and international texting
Dialpad doesn’t let you use multiple local numbers or text international numbers in its base plan. You have to upgrade to access these features.
Use as many numbers as you need, and send international texts, in OpenPhone’s Starter plan.
Get a toll-free number without paying extra
Toll-free numbers cost extra with Dialpad. OpenPhone includes toll-free numbers in every plan.
No user minimums
Dialpad requires user minimums for its higher tiers. What might seem like one price when you sign up is actually another price altogether when you get your bill.
Get up and running with OpenPhone’s Starter plan, or upgrade to our Business plan without worrying about user minimums.
Give your workflow a boost with OpenPhone AI.

On paper, Dialpad starts at $15 per user per month. However, there are several hidden fees Dialpad charges customers that you should be aware of, including porting fees, administrative fees, inbound and outbound texting fees and more.
Here’s a Capterra review that speaks to Dialpad’s hidden fees:
“[Dialpad doesn’t] tell you that in addition to that fine print, there is a separate section of pricing information that shows other hidden fees that they charge to your account. I paid a $60+ regulatory fee. This was not advertised. When I ported my existing 1-800 number, they would not allow me to receive incoming calls until I purchased “credits.” Despite not indicating this cost in their “All Features” page, I learned that you need to pay 0.02 cents for each minute of incoming calls for 1-800 numbers. I had to buy credits in order to get my business back online, and was actually charged 0.03 cents per minute afterward.”
With all these hidden fees, it’s impossible to truly know how much Dialpad costs until you start using it for yourself.
OpenPhone is better than Dialpad for most small and medium businesses. However, if you have a large contact center team, you might find Dialpad to be a better fit for you.
Dialpad offers several features that are useful for contact centers, including real-time assist, AI coaching, AI scorecards, and AI CSAT.
If you’re looking for a collaborative, easy-to-use business phone that helps you build stronger customer relationships, then OpenPhone is for you.
